Many citizens, businesses and organizations in our community are reducing energy use and climate pollution. To lead, however, we have to do more. As shown by the map below, communities throughout the Southeast are setting aggressive goals and taking strong action. In 2019, we set our own ambitious climate goals. In fact Charlottesville City was the first in the Commonwealth to set Carbon Neutrality by 2050.

By harnessing the power of community, together we can achieve local climate action and reach energy solutions that make Charlottesville and Albemarle County an even better place to raise our families, grow our businesses, and strengthen our city.

Poised to Lead

The vision is set! In 2019, the Charlottesville City Council and Albemarle County Board of Supervisors committed to an ambitious, leadership-level goal of 45% reduction of community-wide GHG emissions reduction by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2050.

Now we must roll up our collective sleeves and get to the hard work. Real progress will occur when all sectors – families, businesses, schools, community groups, and government entities – commit to bold action.  C3 works with these groups to provide tangible, measurable and accessible actions to help us meet these goals!

Our Climate. Our Community.

Charlottesville is my beloved, adopted home. I take great pride in this community and its people. It is a special place and one from which I expect the best.

We are a community of leaders, of innovators, of folks who want to do the right thing and make the tough choices. It is time to turn our talents and our attention to the climate, to bring our “can do” attitude to this challenge.

Right now, we have the tools, technology and know-how we need to lead, to make a real difference and to show other communities how it can be done. Significant progress is already being made, and much more needs to be achieved. All the resources are here; we just have to decide as a community to roll up our collective sleeves and get to work!

Charlottesville. Climate Action. Collaboration. I founded C3 because each one is essential to meet this challenge. Together - and only together - we can and will do it. Are you ready to do your part? Will you join us?
