Challenge yourself to take action

The Home Energy Challenge is a 6-month friendly competition to engage residents of the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County in climate action. The Challenge is organized and implemented by the Charlottesville Climate Collaborative and uses an online interface (www.cvillechallenge.org) to communicate tangible actions for reducing household carbon footprints and record successfully completed climate actions taken by teams and households.

when we act together, we amplify our impact

The Home Energy Challenge platform aggregates participants’ impact and shows what we already know-- that we can accomplish great things by working together. Each season of the Home Energy Challenge is structured as a competition between teams of households and individuals to see who can make the greatest reduction to their carbon footprint. Teammates can encourage each other and share advice, making big tasks easier and small tasks no-brainers. The Challenge is meant to be a “sprint” in which households try to accomplish a lot in a short period of time, but is also a great starting point for planning major changes in the future.
